When analyzing these film openings you begin to the notice the order of the credits starting with the Director , following with the main actors this helps you with the credits when applying these to your work, knowing what order to place the cast and crew is important making sure the director and main actors have the most air time because they tend to be the reason most people have gone to watch the film so they have longer time on screen compared to the supporting actors who have half the time, making sure you put head of each department is also a key factor so these factors have helped me and guide me for when I have to edit the credits.
This will help us with our final film cut due to our props we place on screen and the way our film is constructed if we was too show an stadium this could show the audience that our actor through out the film visits this location more than once the use of an photo with Bolt could indicate to the audience that he is the next worlds best.

Analysis of Student films

Here I am analysis student films through the evaluation of Genre, Editing, Sound, Camera Angels, Mise-en-scene, Character Titles as I am doing this I will be looking for the pros and cons of these pieces of work. Student Films.

Genre-The genre is presented as Romance due to the name and colours used in the clip and the diegetic sound of love is repeated this indicates the film is a romance.

Editing-The editing skills could of been better maybe by not being so far away from the note pad and magazines although this a negative the use of establishing shot helps see the overall context and working sense.

Sound-Throughout the film there is an dialog of a girls voice which is most likely her thoughts and is used to help inform the viewer what the film is about this is shown due to the repetition of the word "LOVE".

Camera angels-There have been 2 main shots in this piece such as establishing shot and birds eye view when looking over the magazines and note pad and establishing shot when she is looking for her phone.

Mise-en-scene-So a woman is at work, who seems to be a magazine reporter who is giving advise about love, although this isn't clear.

Character-This is very unclear to the viewer, as you do not see the woman but you only hear her voice.
Titles-  The titles work well with the film as they are pink and very feminine which link well with the Genre Romance.

Genre-The film is children's based due to the style of font and actors/actresses used I can tell this by the crops also used such a push bikes and helmets.

Editing-The editing skills are simple and no over complicated by the way the introduced the actors and when they run over the bridge giving a superb distance shot and finally the establishing shot of the field and tree to show the main location used throughout the film.

Sound-The funky up beat non-diegetic sound is great because it links well with the use of actors/actresses and the font used.

Camera angels-There are 2 distance shots that show you the actors and sense of surrounding and give a wider knowledge of location to the audience this is good for drawing in younger children which the clip is aimed towards.

Mise-en-scene-The overall Mise-en-scene of the clip is very general and basic, but the uses of sound, editing and font work superb together which makes and outstanding clip when all put together, at the begin there is a hill and a group of children come down on bikes roughly the ages between 11 and 12, they hit the bottom of the hill getting of there bikes, before running over a bridge towards a tree which presumes to be the main location throughout the film.

Character-In this clip there seems to be more than one main actor and all work well as a team, this is eventually seen as none of them have the longest on screen, all the actors and actresses are wearing shorts and tops some are wearing bike helmets this shows the age of the film which is targeted for younger audience.

Titles- The titles and font used for this piece works amazingly well with the music and the actors they have used who are much younger and are on adventures, I can tell this by the type of font used which is 'COMIC' which is easy to read and normally associated with children.

When producing films it must be clear to explain what type of genre it is and both films produce that very clearly so when making my film it must be easy to understand the genre and must benefit the audience as they are wanting to watch a film that is aimed towards them.

Student film from a year ago.

Here I am analysis student films through the evaluation of Genre, Editing, Sound, Camera Angels, Mise, Character Titles as I am doing this I will be looking for the pros and cons of these pieces of work. Student Films.

Genre-The clip appears to be an 'Action' this is indicated through the use of guns, violence, outfits and location used throughout the clip.

Editing-The uses of slow paced moving camera with limited cut sense help build up the tension and keep the viewer intact and wanting them to watch more.

Sound-The low music, help emphasis the build up of tension and may result into action.

Camera Angels-There aren't many 'Camera Angels' used within the piece but the establishing shot at the beginning help give the viewer and general gist of where the agent is and the use of over the shoulder from the criminal to see the agent confront him which results into a fighting sense, throughout the majority of the clip there the camera angel is mainly wide shot as it doesn't just focus on the agent but also shows the dairy licked farm.

Mise-en-Scene-The mise-en-scene of the film seems to be an agent which has gone to receive a package before being told it's a scam, this then results the agent to confront the criminal before having a fight and leaving the scene to an unknown location walking away from the injured criminal.

Character-The agent is wearing all black with a bullet proof vest with a gun, very good build mostly muscular , roughly the height of 5ft9-10 and has brown hair with a pale skin tone.

Titles-The titles are very sophisticated and suit the style of the film and match the outfit of the actor.

This will help me with my final piece due to use of location as it plays a big role to help set the atmosphere and feeling, the use of sound helps engage the audience and helps build tension and to help latch the audience in before they are bored.

Independent Film Openings

Independent research on film openings-

Throughout my research between Independent and Mainstream industries you tell by a huge different, due to institutional logos used like Warner Bros, SONY, Universal, FOX and Paramount and variety more compared to the smaller film firms like Film4 which is a well known channel among the UK audiences.
Due to funding from each company e.g. SONY and Film4, SONY film openings allow you to see the scenery if they decide to do an establishing shot of where the film is based to show the audience where the first piece of action is going to occur like a establishing shot of New York or Vegas compared to a Film4 film opening which is more basic being inside someones house or cafe, this  mainly due to finical side each company has to play around with this is what makes a opening titles so different between each category.
The quality between each opening can relate to finical reasoning as well this is due to the graphical side and more technological side of making the film due to editing staff and materials they have around them, when editing cast names it can be done to suit the film and appear in a way it couldn't of done if there was lower finical marketing like an independent film this is why they have simple editing effects of pop ups and downs due to the technological advances the staff are able to work with this is due to the finical situations they come up with.
Also when using certain cameras they quality can be an effect in which the way it has been portrayed like using 6K cameras in SPECTRE this helped enhance the quality of the film which plays the role when kicking starting a film through the opening unlike independent film institutions which are unable to use the top of the range quality cameras.

Here is an independent film which uses simple text and features-Film4-Slumdog Millionaire

Here is a mainstream film which uses more technological advances and is able to add more features-SONY-SPECTRE

analysis of 'DETAILED' film openings

Avengers;

Genre-The Avengers is an sci-fi with a mixture of action due to the unrealism of the Hulk and Thor but a mixture of action due to good vs bad creating it into action back movie.

Titles-Bold and sharp to emphasis on the dramatic irony of the film and the action packed film.

Star Wars

Genre- Sci-fi, action packed movie with multiple of sci-fi techniques such as lasers and spaceships.
Narrative-Good vs bad, lightsaber fights with the ability of the force to kill the dark side and take over the galaxy.

Sound-Song by Sam Smith is the key soundtrack which plays throughout the title sequence setting the mood and tone of the film.
Titles -The basic titles are simple and where clear to read making it easier for the viewers.

Creed-Detailed film opening

Genre-Sports Drama due to the son of Apollo Creed, Adonis seeks out former world champ Rocky to help mentor and train him.
Narrative-Apollo Creeds son Adonis seeks out to live in his dad shoes but wants to make it without the name of 'Creed' whilst also seeking out ex-world champion Rocky, Rocky helps train Adonis due to the friendship both Apollo and Rocky had.
Character -Main to actors Michael B. Jordan 'Adonis Creed' and Sylvester Stallone 'Rocky Balboa'.
Atmosphere-Tense and fast paced editing due to build up of fights and training is quick paced to show his improvements.
Themes-Drama based on his father who was once a World Champion and his son wants the same legacy.
Setting-Philadelphia and Liverpool
Sound-Running, skiping and punching noises to emphasis on the fact it is a sport film but jumps deeper into a boxing fim.
Titles-Old fashioned boxing poster titles, big and bold easy to read.

This will help me with my final film shooting regarding how I will latch in the audience very quickly and engage them into the film without boring them easily this can be done due to the fast paced editing and music used so it can match comfortably with the genre, making sure the titles match with the film and the themes play a role as it needs to placed in the correct position if not it doesn't work well making it clash together.

Analysis of 'My best friends Wedding' and 'Catch me if you can'

My Best Friends Wedding:

Genre-Romance due to the wedding dress and Bridesmaids and Bride.
Narrative-Woman's getting married and bridesmaids are her best friends.
Character-Main woman who is getting married and her friends are in and out of shots.
Atmosphere-Loved up and romantic
Theme-lovely and every girl dream planing there wedding and having their best friends as there bride maids
Setting-New York
Sound-Dietetic Singing
Titles-Fancy and sophisticated

Catch Me If You Can:

Genre-Action this is shown due to the fast paced intro and man running away from another male.
Narrative-Man on the run from detective whilst going through multiple locations.
Character-Two males, one is on the run from the other male.
Atmosphere-High tension and heavy build up to see if the runner gets caught.
Themes-Action pack film with multiple high pace scene.
Setting-New York and other locations.
Sound-High paced and spring piano play.
Titles-Bold and simple bigger actors have larger font.

This will help me with my film due to the timings on screen of each title which appears and how all of the symbols and scenes you see all interlink within the film or are expected to be seen within the clip e.g.-my best friends wedding- you see bride and bride-maids and flowers this all symbolizes to the wedding side of the film and -catch me if you can- you see different settings due to the opening titles there's different scenes which relate to the film, this will help us to add props and symbols that link all our work together.

Comparing 'Title Openings' and 'Trailers'

The differences between film opening and trailers- the difference between both is that trailers show the audience certain snips of the film to help grab the viewers eyes and attention to persuade them to watch the latest film to be released, compared to film openings that show the viewers the director, cast and actors playing in the movie certain film opening tend to show you the location and characters but doesn’t release anything about the film. Trailers are short 2/3 minute clip that shows certain scenes in the film with a voice over about the summary and content of the film my two examples are ‘Now You See Me’ (NYSM) and ‘Spectre’ I’ve used these two films as they represent ‘opening title’ and ‘trailer’ perfectly ‘Spectre’ represents ‘opening title’ for the way the film shows the actors , directors and crew involved but only shows Daniel Craig throughout the opening without revealing the rest of the movie compared to ‘NYSM’ which shows all the actors and start, middle and end sequence throughout the film is mixed upon each other and placed in the trailer.

Trailers are used to help grab as much a audience as possible by showing the best snippets of a film to show the viewer the content and meaning of the film is about using a trailer always helps show potential views the main actors, director and meaning compared to an title opening which is used to show the cast, directors and actors but doesn’t reveal much about the film itself.

As  you can see by Spectre it is quite extravagant and mysterious but it doesn't show or give out many clues based around the film nor shows you any part of the film, but if you compare it to NYSM there is quite a dramatic difference NYSM shows you the actors, director and what is going to happen in the film. Title Openings are used to help kick start the film showing you the location the main actor but also shows you the director, throughout the Title Openings the Director always kicks starts the film following the main actor comparing that theory to an Trailer the director is shown last as the clips play revealing the actors as it plays on till the end, why is this? this is because Trailers are meant to grab the viewers eyes so it jumps into action but where as the Title Opening is meant to bleed into the film as it may have already been purchased as DVD so they don't need to grab your attention.
